There's A Senior Named Hannah . . .

Well, yesterday was a very big day for me. I had my very first official photo shoot! [sixteen before sixteen #9: check!] Hannah is a senior this year and she asked me to do her senior pics for her, and we had a fantastic time. The lighting was delicious, and the weather was perfect. So without further ado, presenting part one!

Isn't she so pretty?
Do you have a favorite?
Part two coming soon!

Currently.

Because I have so many emotions/thoughts/confusing junk running through my brain at the moment, this is all I can conjure up. :)
[oh, and gracie did something like this, so I'm kind of stealing it :)]

sipping: a chai latte

nibbling: ginger snaps

playing: Chopin's Nocturne op. 72 no. 1

excitedly awaiting: CYT acting class tomorrow

kind of dreading: dissecting a crayfish

wishing: for red rain boots, overalls, and baby blue nail polish

listening: The Civil Wars, Speak Now, and Pandora :)

sketching: some random portrait of a girl on pinterest

hoping for: confusion to clear

reading: well, just finished The Bronze Bow

writing: many words in my journal

loving: this gorgeous, beautiful, fantastical weather!

also loving: the idea of sleeping outside in a hammock

realizing: this post is longer than I intended, even though it is short

hoping: that you enjoyed it

leaving: to go read a book

this is an old diary of my grandma's... I found it when I was snooping in her basement. shh! nobody tell! :)

love, hugs, and italic letters,

Because I'm just that nerdy

After a nice productive day of school, do you know what I did with my first free 30 minutes?

Well... I pulled out my ginormous, very own, thrifted, $3, lovely Unabridged Dictionary. :) And then I grabbed a list of words. A list of words that I don't know, which I keep in the current biography I'm reading. And I looked up their definitions, imagined how I'd put them into sentences, and wrote them down in my journal. Of course I won't use many of them every day, but maybe they'll at least come in handy on the SAT. :)

Here are a few for you:

obfuscate -- to confuse, bewilder, or stupefy

recalcitrant-- resisting authority or control; not obedient or compliant; refractory

solicitous-- anxious or concerned; anxiously desirous; eager; careful or particular

That was your nerd moment of the day. Now use one of these today and make me proud. :)

Oh Saturday...

After scarcely six hours of horrible restless sleep, I pulled myself out of bed; it was clear that I wouldn't get much more. I hopped on the computer to check the dailies: AOU, gmail, this blog, and Facebook. When I got to the last one, I was met with disheartening and depressing news: my voice class, the one I had been so ecstatically excited about was canceled. Canceled?! What? I had talked about how excited I was to improve my voice and work hard, not to mention getting to see my teacher from last semester and a few of my friends.

The morning moved along and I was caught in a general mood of I'm just not happy and I don't feel like being happy, so I'll just be melancholy. And when this happens, you generally start to count the number of things that make your life stink. But then I realized something! (something that I've realized many a time before and always need to remember). I have way more blessings in my life than I do problems. As I began to count them up, the truth of the matter was quite clear: the blessings outweigh the problems about a hundred to one. I had breakfast this morning, I've got clothes on my back, I didn't get sick from the water I've been drinking, I have a sturdy house and a roof over my head... and the list goes on. How can I complain when I have so many things to be thankful for?

It is so easy to be caught up in what we don't have rather than remembering what we do have. Most of the world doesn't live like we do. Every day almost 16,000 children die of hunger, so what right do we have to complain about such comparatively silly things? Just a little food for thought. [also, if it sounds like I'm guilting and judging people, that's not what I'm doing. This is just as much for me as it is for you. And actually, this isn't where I was planning to go with this post, but that's what almost always inevitably happens. :)]

Well, here's a little bit of lovely for you...

Yesterday's dilapidated omelette...

I didn't draw this, but I colored it today! Via Pinterest (originally via weheartit.)

The rest of the day was filled with pinterest-ing, sketching, listening to the Hunger Games with my momma, a beautiful, brisk, evening walk with my P-dog, brainstorming for the photo shoot, randomly playing 2 minute segments of my piano piece, and playing a game in the bathroom: act like some fictional character and make crazy facial expressions. :) I'm trying to work on acting and doing roles that really stretch me (which actually end up being the ones I don't expect). You really didn't need to know the entire agenda of my day, but now you do. I hope you don't mind. :)

Have a lovely day!!

Love and a hug,

Lindsey Nicole

No, I Didn't Fall Off The Face Of The Planet.

I've just been extremely busy. As you may or may not know, this past week was show week for Seussical. And it was a completely  a m a z i n g  week. I could ramble on this in numerous paragraphs, but frankly, I don't have time at the moment. However, I'll give you a few highlights of my blogging dry spell...

> Performing on [a real] stage for the first time in my life! <

> winning the greenroom award<

> seeing many, many friends and family members at all seven of my shows!<

> Meeting new and wonderful people <

> making plans and having a reserved theater for the midnight premier of The Hunger Games! (Thanks, Mrs. R.!<

> Getting asked to do someone's senior pictures! Woot! Woot! (I'm a little nervous, but I bet it'll go ok) <

> hanging out with younger kids before, after, and during show <

> singing new worship songs before show <

> finishing this watercolor (it could be better, but I'm satisfied with it.)<

> having warm enough weather to wear shorts <

> [today] a 3 mile run, a cool shower, and now peach+blackberry crisp and a Fringe. (all of this= perfection)<

That's all for now. Just wanted to let you know I was alive. :)

Love and a hug,

Lindsey

Dear people,
I made a mistake. That is why everything looks wacky.
Working on the problem...

Over The Weekend (such an original title, I know)

Just over the weekend I finally got to spend some time with a very dear friend of mine who I have been missing so much! Missing to the point of tears, in fact. Anywho, here's a little taste of the adventures we had together...

we ate ice cream for lunch after a bit of shopping

then, after getting lost and driving around in the city for 20 minutes, we found the bakery we were searching for... and they gave us free bread. :)

we set off for an adventure in the woods...

... and stopped for a picture on a bridge.
then we continued throughout the woods, singing all the while.

and after we had muffins on the shelf of a little waterhole, my friend took about 537 pictures of us by this old fireplace/foundationofanoldhouse. Thanks, Neens! :))

Over the weekend, I also had a long Seussical rehearsal (5 hours) and we moved into the theater!! I got to practice on stage, which was very exciting, since it's the first time that I actually get to do a show on stage.

Happy Sunday!

Love and a hug,

Lindsey
