oh, to sketch in the sun!

In my little hometown it has been pretty warm lately. I mean, not too scorching, just the hottest March ever recorded in Kansas. But the more time I spend in the sun, the more I love it. Yesterday I pulled out my sketch book and my little wooden man form (what's it called?) and sat atop a beach towel in the yard. Then I began to sketch. A character that has floated through my head for weeks. She's a farmer girl and she loves overalls and daisies. She's usually got dirt under her fingernails and converse on her feet. When she's not wearing converse, she's barefoot, sinking her feet into the mud and oozing it through her toes. Well, now she's sounding a lot like me, just much more storybook-like. Do you have any name suggestions?

you know how I hate taking self-portraits, but I did. And yes, I know it's blurry. :)

^ I got an Easter dress!

I hope you all have a blessed week! Enjoy the week, remember who's making it beautiful, and remember our amazing Savior!

Love, a hug, and cherry pie,
Lindsey

{p.s. so... I gave up sweets for the week and made myself accountable with my friend, Carolyn. So no, I didn't get to eat that cherry pie my daddy brought home :)}

because it's fri-ee-day...

well, now that you have rebecca black playing through your head, i'll tell you about my day. :)

shortly after i woke up, i headed downtown for a christmas parade and saw sophi, emalee, hanna, and a few other folks. after watching plenty of horses, sophi's family and i got to visit a festival of nativities, where we saw sets from all over the world!

sophi. me. emalee.

i wanna live in that top apartment.

raindrops. enough said.

and later... you'll never guess what i got in the mail!  here's a hint:

my new black dress! i don't officially get it until christmas, but i had to try it on for size, and i love it!!

as for other events of the day, i finally finished "mockingjay".   ahhh... the whole book was a little bit depressing, but the end was good. bittersweet, but good. i would definitely recommend the series!
we also headed out on some errands where i got some more yarn for christmas presents! which, speaking of, i am almost done with my socks and i will post when i'm finished!!

as for my precious little shadow, after five weeks, she will be leaving tomorrow. moving on, and leaving me unexpectedly disappointed. it will be an adjustment for sure. i'll keep you updated.

so for our last night, we are all going to watch "the grinch" and have a slumber party. with that, i'd better be going.

much love and many hugs,

lindsey nicole

The Introvert Hour {In The Studio}

so here i sit in my studio. soaking up some alone-time and writing in all lower-case letters. creating cards for beloved friends and reading books. listening to judy garland and ella fitzgerald. enjoying the organization of my studio, that never has been, and probably never will be again. dreaming of beautiful dresses that make you feel elegant and picture-perfect. dreaming of christmas and winter and christ's birth.  dreaming of the thing i should have forgotten, but continuing to dream of deeper, all the more. pondering my life's experiences and being thankful for the trials i have encountered, which have given me far more strength and knowledge than i could have had if i had avoided the pain and went down the easy road of life. being thankful for little sisters. being thankful for closeness with the lord. being thankful for the strength and patience he has given me in the past month. being thankful that he is sovereign and his plan is so perfect-- and that i can see that so clearly. and being thankful for you. :)

now here are some of the photos i promised:

i am also thankful for sunsets and silhouetted trees.

this is a lovely pearl necklace that my grandma gave me. i treasure it.
while we were at my grandma's, she showed us her old jewelry. she had rings with diamonds and real gold,  but out of them all, this ring (below) was my positive  f a v o r i t e . it has a fake jewel, and it's sterling silver, but it was just charming.

now i'm drinking tea and nibbling ginger snaps, compliments of my sister, babycakes. mockingjay is next on the agenda, so i'd better hop to it. this was my introvert hour-- thanks for tuning in. :)

much love and a hug,

lindsey nicole

p.s. the lovely, lacy black dress was ordered less than ten minutes ago! a n d  it went on sale!! how great is that?

a little and lacy black dress...

Dear friends,
Since I know you all have got to be fashionably educated in the way many bloggers are, I'd like to ask your opinion on a dress.

I was told that I could pick out a dress to be my Christmas present from my Grandparents, and I found this one a few weeks ago before I knew... and fell in love with it!!
This dress, from Modcloth.com, is called the "When the Night Comes Dress". Now tell me, is it not just lovely??

{Sorry this photo is so small. I couldn't make it bigger without being super blurry.}

So... what do you think? It's kind of pricey, but I'm hoping maybe it will go on sale. :)

Much Love,
Lindsey Lou

P.S. what does your dream dress look like?

A Book, A Dress and A Blog Header

I'm reading: Enchantment, a biography about Audrey Hepburn... :))

I'm wearing: this adorable (!!) dress I bought yesterday.  Hooray for Plato's Closet!

And I'm excited about: my new blog header! I finally put it together. What do you think of it? I'd love to know! Drop me a comment if you will. :)

Much Love,

Lou
