I'd take more days like this one

If there's such thing as a 'perfect typical day' I'm sure that today would have to be it...

Getting back to school after spring break // waking up early to read my Bible with the chirping birds and
golden sun // scrawling out a letter to my lovely friend, Carolyn // sipping a delicious smoothie for
breakfast... that contained well-hidden spinach. Yay for veggies in my breakfast! // very productive school time // taking a break during math to read a fairytale // wasting less than 10 minutes on the internet-- the whole day! // using my time in stead to read (Audrey Hepburn biography) // planting chamomile // getting nearly sunburned in March // doing history with my mamma and sister in the back yard, wearing our swimsuit tops and getting tan :) // eating salad and a bajillion carrots with lunch // running three miles, nearly stopping to walk because the heat was killing me, but finishing and feeling victorious // stir fry for dinner // a crescent moon.
Simply too perfect. Thank you, Lord!

If you had a perfect day, what would it look like? What time of year would it be, would it matter what you wore or when you woke up? Tell me about it!

Oh, and as for the Hunger Games premier, it was an exciting and eventful night. I have a few little adjustments I would've made with the movie, but for the most part I thought they did a really good job on it, especially for what a detailed book it is.

Sophi, Em, Adelle [Nina], and me
Now I have to tell you, at the premier I was dressed up as Katniss and there was a boy I spotted dressed as Peeta... and after talking to my friend Sophi who was dressed as the same, we decided to ask for a picture with him. Well, it was more like me running and yelling,
"Peeeeeettttaaaaaaa! Can we get a picture with you? See? Look! I'm Katniss, she's Katniss, we're both Katniss!! Can we have a picture together?? Please?"
Umm, yeah, so I kind of overdid it. He just looked at me like oh my gosh, you are so crazy. I think I might have scared him. A lot. And I'm not some boy-crazy gal who begs for pictures with random costumed people... actually I'd never done something like this in my life. I was nervous and my words came out garbled, making me look like a fool. But I'll probably never see him again, and it was memorable, so what did I lose? Exactly. Nothing.

Peeeeettttaaaa! ;)
What did you think of the movie?

Love, a hug, and fresh chamomile,

A Little Bit of Everything...

Hello, y'all! My goodness, it's been a while! You see, my life has been a bit crazy... and by 'a bit crazy' I mean really crazy. You know my cat? The gray one who likes to pee on things? She has marked her territory on well over 60 items in our house over the years and the number has been increasing rapidly as of late. Steam cleaning couches and other items multiple times isn't too easy, nor is it enjoyable, and it also takes up a lot of time. Like about 30 hours of my mother's weekend. Long story short, my precious little kitty had to go away, and I hope she finds a new home soon. I'm kind of sad since we've had her for over 6 years, but I don't show it and I certainly won't cry. But please don't think I'm insensitive-- I do care, I'm just not very caring, if that makes sense. In addition to this, our water heater broke on saturday night (which is now replaced, praise the Lord!) and my dad's car battery broke too, but that's a little more minor. Our weekend was basically just a comedy of errors.

Now, for a Hunger Games tag I received from Jessica!

1. Your sister's/brother's/best friend's name gets called at the reaping. What is your immediate reaction?
I would like to believe that without hesitation I would volunteer. I would probably hear Libby's name called, register what was happening, imagine her trying to fight in the arena, but be unable to bear the thought of it, and volunteer.

2. In the training center, there are several different stations to practice your skills, some of them being how to camouflage yourself, archery, sword training, climbing, spear throwing, hand-to-hand combat (wrestling), and agility. Which one would you head for?
I would have to decide between climbing and wrestling. Climbing because it could keep me hidden, but able to see what's going on (and because I enjoy it). Wrestling because I would have a hard time hurting someone bloodily (spear or sword, although I think I could use archery) and I feel like I could get really aggressive and maybe knock someone out.

3. You're in the arena and the countdown has just started. When the cannon goes off, what's your strategy? Grab necessary supplies, and then run for my life. Avoid contact with anyone. Find a hidden place and formulate a plan.

4. You are feeling like you're being watched. You glance over your shoulder and sure enough, the youngest tribute in the Games is watching you. What do you do? In the arena? I'll probably want, with every bone in my body to help her by allying, but keep moving, realizing that she might slow me down. . .Then I'll regret it every next minute.

5. There are only four tributes left in the arena, including you. What do you do? If I'm allied, I'll break up the alliance. Probably use a very Foxface-ish approach. Stay low profile and wait till someone attacks another tribute. Then maybe close in, or just wait until the others starve.

6. Which supporting character are you most like and why? I'm not really like many of the supporting characters at all. Maybe Cinna because he's artistic. But not really.

7. Which supporting character is your favorite? I'm pretty sure it's Finnick for his character. However, there are so many good characters that I can't really pick a fave.

Okay, now I'll tag a few:

Jocee
And I know there are a lot more of you who are Hunger Games fans... I just don't have time or energy to track you all down, so if you like HG just consider yourself tagged. :)

Oh, also, I'm such a geek that I thrifted for a Katniss costume. Would any of you like to see it? Let me know.

Here's some stolen loveliness...

Number three is my absolute favorite. It made me laugh so hard the first time I read it! What's your favorite?

It Was One of Those Days.

It was one of those days where the creative itch hit us all, and having the flexible schedule of homeschooling showed itself to be most appealing. It was one of those days where in an instant, papers, scissors, glue, sparkles, buttons, stickers, felt, and rickrack were strewn about the table, leaving no space uncovered. A day where the three of us {Libby, my mama, and I} let our creative spirits loose and began creating Valentine's decorations of all kinds. Glittery garlands, trees with little hearts hanging on it, and tiny candle arrangements.

It was one of those days that was full of daydreaming as usual. A day with fishtails. A day with writing class and seeing friends, working out, and listening to an amazing speech on abortion. It was a speech that made me think and fight for what is right, if only I can find a way.

Today was a day of being filled with pain and joy, and having light bulb moments and being utterly confused with myself. This is the day that the Lord has made, and I have rejoiced and been glad in it. Finally, to put a good end to it, I shall set out a saucer of milk and a plate of graham crackers and snack cozily in my bed, as the creative adventurers listen to The Hunger Games together. Again.

Love, a hug, and fishtail curls,

Lindsey Nicole

new year's goals and other such ramblings

this year i have quite a few of them!

1. drink more water, drink less soda. Eat more veggies and run more.

2. build up the courage and run track again.

3. read more.

4. become a better blogger and get to 100 followers!

5. work on core/abs strength.

6. be a better secret-keeper. (i know this sounds terrible, but sometimes a secret gets
leaked to even just one person, and i want people to know that if they trust me with a
secret, it will remain as if no one was ever told.)

and for my biggest project of the year:

7. i'm going to start a project called "365: a sketch a day" where i try to sketch
every day possible. (but really it will probably be about 340 because of two missions
trips in the summer). i just figure that since i'm planning on majoring in art,
i should be a little better at drawing. so hopefully i'll do periodic posts about my better sketches.

of course, with all of these, i will be trying to grow in my faith, love for the Lord, patience and biblical love. and i pray that all of you will too!

... now comes the part where i brag about my christmas presents. ;)

from adelle, now hanging by my bed to keep me dreaming for years to come. love it. love her more.
some totally  a d o r a b l e  chicken feather earrings from Em! how cool is that?! i absolutely love them. and her! :)

the hunger games mockingjay pin. oh. yes. (i didn't actually get the book, i just figured it was more interesting than my hand)

my yearly calendar in audrey form once again! :)

my tiffin!!!

i am in love. but i still need an adventure to take it on. or at least somewhere to go to eat lunch.

from anthropologie!! we found it on super crazy reduced clearance and i fell in love.

I also got an awesome artist beret hat from lib that makes me feel like i'm in france. and cam gave me one of the coolest presents ever, but i didn't take a picture, so i may tell you about that later.

what did you get for Christmas?

----------------------------------------------------------------

did i ever tell you that i like the hunger games? well i do. i couldn't remember if i mentioned it or not. ;)
anywho, there's a song from the movie that's out and i just adore it. it's kind of sad, but i keep listening to it over and over again. you can listen to it here.

Have a wonderful evening, and read a book by candlelight for me, would ya?
I think i will.

Sending love and hugs,

Lou

because it's fri-ee-day...

well, now that you have rebecca black playing through your head, i'll tell you about my day. :)

shortly after i woke up, i headed downtown for a christmas parade and saw sophi, emalee, hanna, and a few other folks. after watching plenty of horses, sophi's family and i got to visit a festival of nativities, where we saw sets from all over the world!

sophi. me. emalee.

i wanna live in that top apartment.

raindrops. enough said.

and later... you'll never guess what i got in the mail!  here's a hint:

my new black dress! i don't officially get it until christmas, but i had to try it on for size, and i love it!!

as for other events of the day, i finally finished "mockingjay".   ahhh... the whole book was a little bit depressing, but the end was good. bittersweet, but good. i would definitely recommend the series!
we also headed out on some errands where i got some more yarn for christmas presents! which, speaking of, i am almost done with my socks and i will post when i'm finished!!

as for my precious little shadow, after five weeks, she will be leaving tomorrow. moving on, and leaving me unexpectedly disappointed. it will be an adjustment for sure. i'll keep you updated.

so for our last night, we are all going to watch "the grinch" and have a slumber party. with that, i'd better be going.

much love and many hugs,

lindsey nicole

Double-digits! *excited beam*

Hip! Hip! Hooray! I have ten followers!
Okay, now I know that doesn't sound like much, especially when lots of people have triple digits... or quadruple digits... or whatever comes after that.
But, for me this is a big deal! I remember the day I had three followers and never thought I would have any more. I was moping around, thinking that my life would be follower-less forever.
However, thanks to you all, I am increasing in number, and I couldn't be more pleased!

And I just have to tell you, when I went from 7 to 10 in under 24 hours, my day was made! It distracted me from being sad and gave me a new burst of creativity and motivation.

Sunrise and tea?

{this is a photo i took just after sunrise, a few weeks ago. i can't decide if i like it or not. what do you think of if?}

It's 6:48. i peek out the window and hop out of bed. Fishing to the end of my bed for a pair of socks, i begin to dream about the hour to come. i scurry downstairs so i can set the water to boil. oops! i forgot my mug! Back upstairs. As quietly as possible, i empty my metal Coleman mug of the various pens and pencils it holds. The water boils and i prepare my tea.
i decide that a sweatshirt and something to sit on atop the wet roof would be beneficial. setting down my mug, i clumsily plunge my finger into the steaming cup of tea- as instinct, i pull it out and pop it in my mouth, licking off the sweet tasting delightfulness. then i head to my brother's room, where he is  sleeping in his hammock as usual. bang! a loud noise startles me. it's me bumping into some large, unidentifiable object to my right. i tiptoe further until i reach the window. pulling back the curtain and yanking up the blind, i open the window and stretch my leg out onto the wet roof. then the other one follows.
From there i trek to the top, being sure not to tromp, because the sound of someone on the roof is quite loud, and definitely recognizable.
when i make it up, i carefully set down my tea and begin to watch. time passes. i try not to let my neighbors see me because they don't understand how wonderful the roof is, so i imagine the just think i'm insane.
i keep my gaze fixed on the spot where the sun rises every morning. but in stead of that warm, yellow lemon drop on the horizon, i see only a general light in the sky and a few clouds. then i feel something. drip, drip. it begins to rain and i see lightning.  so that's why i couldn't see the sun come up. all the clouds and much-needed rain waiting to come out are covering it up. so, desiring to live, rather than die by lightning at age 15, i gather up and sneak inside. And in the dining room i settle in next to the window and read the final chapter of The Hunger Games. Umm, so. good. Now i just have to locate a copy of Catching Fire before i lose my mind trying to figure everything out myself. :) So even if i didn't get to see the sun rise, it wasn't a failure.

Have a lovely day! i hope you enjoy every minute of it.

Much Love and a bear hug,

-Lindsey Nicole

{p.s. tonight cameron, libby and i made a pretty sweet fort in the reading room-- complete with colored christmas lights! i'm sitting in it right now as i type away.}

{p.p.s. i am discovering how nice it feels to write in all lower-case letters... it's almost relaxing.}

Everything Lovely {day four: touch}

Well, um, I'm kinda doing badly with this whole Everything Lovely deal, but there's only one day left! Today is touch, and I should let you know something: I'm not a touchy person. Not tactile at all... especially when it comes to my sister. Don't get me wrong, I love her, I just don't like her touching me. Anyway, I suppose I should get on with this.

the feel of...

-big fuzzy blankets-

-my kitty's soft fur-

-thick, oozey mud squishing through my toes on a creek bank-

-a hot shower on a frigid morning-

-the hug of an old friend-

-raindrops on my cheek-

-old flannel pajamas and sweaters-

-cold night air blowing through my open window, and my numerous blankets wrapping up to my chin, keeping me cozy-

-my puppy licking my toes-

-my hair when I straighten it and it's as soft as silk (this usually only happens when Cindi's sister does it for me :)-

-a baby grand's keys under my fingers-

-our fireplace warming me up in December-

-wet grass under my feet-

There ya have it! Now, I'm going to change topics and tell you about what I'm reading... :))

Drumroll, please...

Yes! The Hunger Games! So, I haven't finished it yet, but it is amazing so far! To be honest, I've never really been as much of a reader as I'd like to be. But... with this book I read six chapters in the first day I had it. Maybe that doesn't sound like much, but for me, not really being a reader, and being farsighted and having difficulty concentrating at things up close for long, this is big. Anywho, I would suggest it if you need something that hooks you!

Much Love,

Lindsey Lou
