One Year Older

Today I'm sixteen. And I don't know how it happened, except through time flying and God being faithful.

In stead of rambling about growing up for five paragraphs, here's a list of sixteen little truths about me... that you may or may not have known.

1. I don't wear makeup... except for mascara maybe twice a month. You can call me crazy. I know I'm different.

2. I went to Africa once. And I want to go back. 

3. I much prefer the word 'joy' to the word 'happiness.'

4. Laughter is my favorite thing to photograph.

5. I have always loved red hair. (Like the color my hair looks in the first picture! It's just the sunlight, but I'd like to believe it actually looks like that.)

6. I love little children more than you can know, and I can't wait to have some of my own someday.

7. I have an irrational fear of exploding dishwashers.  :)

8. Sometimes color is more delicious than food to me.

9. I'm really good at making awkward situations out of perfectly normal ones.

10. I'm somehow related to Ella Ewing, who was 8 foot, 4 inches tall. 

11. I want to learn how to tap dance.

12. When I was about ten or so, my toe got stabbed with a pitchfork. It's my own fault for wearing flip-flops while unloading mulch.

13. I'd prefer daisies to roses.

14. I know a lot about adoption (from experience).

15. I love to smile.

16. My God is too wonderful for words. 

Lately I've come to the deep realization that everything I do, I couldn't do without God's help, and He deserves the glory for all of it. Even though sometimes I'm tempted to think I did things on my own, I have to remember who created me, and it all goes back to Him. 

So for everything I've ever done, may the glory be to God alone.

skipping through [poky] fields [in bare feet].

fantasizing my future.

babysitting the fantastic five. 

picking, or just maybe stealing [a few] cherries.

studying for my permit test.

shopping for Florida clothes.

100. Really? You all are too amazing. I can't express how thankful I am for all of you. For some reason, I feel like I'm finally official. You know? Triple digits? I know you've heard this speech one hundred times and it probably seems fake, but I assure you, it's not. So thank you all, and thank you Lord.

The giveaway will be coming soon, but I haven't put the whole thing together yet. However, I'm guessing you'll like it... probably.

In ten days I will be leaving for Florida. I don't think I've ever said this, but my Daddy is a pastor. He has been doing seminary for many years, but he's been doing long distance courses so that we didn't have to move around. Well, in less than two weeks he is finally going to graduate in Florida! I'm so proud of him and I can't believe that he's almost finished. I'm simply giddy to finally fly again and spend some time on the beach. To be truthful, my sister and I have been planning out every single detail since the moment we decided to go. What we're going to wear on the plane, our "Audrey" outfits for the beach, how we're going to ride townies around the town. 

In two days, however, my brother will graduate from high school. *sob* Things have been crazy trying to get ready for the graduation, which we are doing with one other family. I'm sorry, but if I keep talking about this, I'll think of him leaving and be depressed, so I must stop.

i. You all are so amazing. I can not believe that 98 of you have come along for the ride! I'm planning a giveaway at 100!

ii. I know I had said previously that I was going to do a vlog... well, I can't do one, but I would still like to  do a post answering any questions you might have about pretty much anything, so ask away!

iii. I know you're not going to believe this, but... I am finally putting together a new blog design!! Have you finished having your heart attack? Okay, well it's true. I have reasons for never redesigning this 'ol place though. 1. I don't like to waste hours on the computer. 2. I don't  didn't know how to do anything involving blog design until now! Google has become my best friend and I am feeling so empowered. I've also had advice from fantastic blog designers like Gracie. :)

Lately Lovely

{crushed up cinnamon graham crackers+chocolate pudding+oreo+coolwhip+sprinkles=happiness in a ramekin.}

as a child, i always wanted to blow bubbles to the top of my milk... somehow, i was always stopped before i even hit halfway. but today i did it.


This morning when my alarm clock alerted me that it was 7:00 and it was time to wake up, I ignored it and slept in. The weather was too superb to stay inside, so a little while after I pulled myself out of my bed, all of the girls (my mamma, libby, penny and I) spent the morning in the garden. Oh, how lovely it was. Pulling weeds, planting beans, and transplanting my zinnias and cilantro, which were strewn across my garden in a very un-orderly fashion.  I simply don't know how that happened.:) 
Today felt like an eternity because I procrastinated with my school subjects for far too long, but when I finally finished, I felt so very free. And since my parents took a little outing to the City, we all pitched in to clean up the house. Now that was rewarding.
