{Authentic People}

Well, here it goes for Authentic People! I 'm supposed to introduce myself, so for those of you who don't really know me, just know that I love Jesus. So much!! I also enjoy anything and everything creative-- especially photography. I am independently educated (aka homeschooling) and I love music, theater, and dancing around the house. As well as daydreaming, writing on my typewriters, and reading (and writing) snail mail.

1} What's the nerdiest/geekiest/weirdest thing about you? That's easy. Everything about me is nerdy, but the biggest marker is probably when I won my school's spelling bee and had to go to the county spelling bee... on a Saturday morning. But hey, I got third, and I now have a new nickname- Spellmaster.
2} If you could live in a fictional universe from any book, movie, or television show, what would it be? Hmm... Maybe from Tangled. I'm not sure.
3} Little or big, practical or frivolous, what is one of your favorite items in your house? Medium, my typewriter.
4} Do you like animated movies? If so, what is your favorite? Yes, Tangled! That is my favorite movie of all time. Seriously.
5} What is your favorite household chore? Cleaning the kids' bathroom. I said this before, but as weird as it sounds, I like cleaning the floors in there and imagining I'm Cinderella...'sing sweet nightingale'... :)
6} What's your favorite thing to get at Starbucks (or your favorite coffee shop)? Well, considering that I don't really like coffee (sorry, you coffee lovers... I'm working on it.) Strawberries and Creme for sure!
7} What is your favorite pizza topping? Hamburger. (My Grandpa raises his own beef!)
8} Waffles or pancakes? Pancakes! In my house we eat them every Saturday morning and at least one night a week.
9} Do you like to play games? If so, what is your favorite? Apples. To. Apples.
10} Have you ever dyed your hair? Nope. Someday if I'm an artist, I may do something crazy if I can pull it off, but it feels like as a teenager it seems a bit fake.
12} Do you make your bed every morning? No. Not every morning, at least. But if I don't make it by about 8 'O clock (which is pretty much every day of the week), my sister faithfully reminds me, or sometimes pesters me to make it. And if I don't, or I don't do it just right, she'll make it, or just remake it until it's perfect. It's occasionally nice to have such an organized sister. :)
13} Picasso or Norman Rockwell? Uh, excuse me? Does this question really need to be asked? Norman Rockwell!!!! My  f a v o r i t e  artist of all time. He had so much talent! It's insane.

{This is my favorite painting of his}
Well, I suppose that concludes this post. Hopefully you learned something new about me! Also, feel free to link up if you want to join the party!

Much Love,
Lou

The Show.

See that beautiful beast? That majestic unicorn? That is me. Yes, it's true.

World, get ready for the greatest unicorn you've ever seen.

Be prepared for the most dazzling and sparkly horn you've ever set your eyes upon.

Prep to be extremely confused as to why the great unicorn is in a tutu!...??

Clap your biggest at my bow.

And laugh all you want, because inside I'm laughing at myself as hard as you are.

Yes, it's opening night! I'm pumped for a great show tonight and tomorrow, then...

!!!!!!!!

Yep, it's true. Babycakes, Cam, and I are all doing it and I. am. so. excited.
I'm also hoping for the part of Gertrude McFuzz... we're so alike. :) at least from the song I've heard of hers.

Much Love,

Miss Unicorn. <3

{in which i ramble about the delights of snail mail}

There is perhaps nothing more gratifying than sitting down to read a letter from a most beloved friend. When you discover that a beautiful square envelope is resting on your bed, just waiting to be opened and the contents savored delightedly. The way the envelope appears so crisp and sealed tight, with such a beautiful stamp... and that postmark that feels so affirming. And before all this, the humming sound of the mail man's truck (or whatever you want to call it) slinking down the street. Then the sound of him coming up the street, and stopping in front of the house. I wait eagerly, staring at him, hiding behind the curtains. He's stopped. Opening the mailbox. Putting down the flag. Pushing in the pile of letters and bills.   Wait one second... the second's up! I have flung the door open, and before he has even left the cul-de-sac, I have already retrieved the mail, excitedly fishing through it, crossing my fingers for something with my name on it. Every day for the past couple of months, I have been especially anxious for the letter I was promised by the someone I have told you a little about. As much as I want to believe that our friendship has been restored, and I will soon open the mailbox and find this lovely, long-awaited explanation, somehow I don't believe that day will ever come. Besides that letter, I am absolutely enthralled when I receive mail from Carolyn (aka Celia), Em, Nina (or Adelle), Sonya, Cindi, Rosie, and anyone else who feels like dropping me a note. In particular, today I received the loveliest and happiest card from Carolyn... definitely in the top five cards I have ever had the privilege of opening. I may just frame it. And here it is:

Now isn't this just lovely? Isn't it?? I'll answer for you. Yes it is. Well, that was the ineloquent ending to my ramble. Oh, and I'd love to hear about your snail mail opinions! :)

Much Love,

Lindsey Nicole

Musings...

These are all entirely random photos that I didn't take today... or this month. I don't know when I took them, but I believe that no matter what I ramble about, it would be a crime to leave you without any eye candy at all. So enjoy.

Now that you are hopefully tided over for a while, I will begin my ramble. I've been doing some thinking lately-- about what I post about. It seems like I usually do what pretty much everyone does-- write something random, be it eloquent or not, share a quote or two, and put up a bunch of pretty photos. Maybe say something about the cake I ruined or my class at the gym. But I think I'm missing something. I'm missing the everyday happenings that make for the most vivid memories. Or even the things that are just beautiful in their simplicity. The pure joy of living and loving others, in the knowledge that we are saved and are called to be servants and love each other. Maybe the things that are not glamorous, but are good life lessons. The comedies of errors that make you want to cry. Or the successes you never imagined. In that knowledge, I will try my best to document these events and record them at every chance I have, always with my camera around my neck. Maybe I should make this a project with a name. Okay, well I hadn't really thought of that until now, but if you think of a name, drop me a comment.

Much Love, mustard yellow, and a full moon,

Lindsey Nicole

A Mid-Morning Munchy

Blowing winds, raindrops pelting the rooftop, and clouds covering the glorious sunlight. Even so, yesterday i was cozy inside, curled up next to the fireplace, wrapped in a blanket, listening to a book, and sipping my tea... and nibbling my torta and cheese. What is a torta? Some kind of delicious confection that was made in Spain. Don't ask me, all i know is that it tasted delicious. And i wish you all were there to enjoy it with me. Maybe sometime i'll invite you to a Tea and Torta Party. How would that sound? i'll tell you when i have one and you can invite all of your friends, okay? okay.

Much Love,

-Lindsey Nicole

a tid-bit of my past few days

Well, I am finally posting again! Sorry that I haven't been very consistent... I've had many things on my mind and a young shadow in need of constant attention at my side. Not to mention the fall retreat I had with my youth group.

These fall retreats are always refreshing, but this year it was certainly the best yet. I got to spend quality time with my small group... which ended up being 17 strong, and therefore, not so small. I have the most amazing leader who loves God so much, and does an amazing job of loving us and teaching us about Him. In the main sessions, our speaker talked about the kingdom of God and sowing the Word. He taught us about trusting Him to do the work of changing peoples' hearts, and showed us that God is always working, even when we don't see the fruit. We may never see it, and sometimes when we share, some simply won't accept the gospel, but the Lord is the only one who understands how and why this is the case, and we need to trust Him that He knows best.

Also, as a part of our small group discussion, my leader gave us this re-written encouragement version of Psalm 139. I love it so much and it almost made me cry. Cindi also posted this, but I guess I'll put it up too. (oh, and darling, I copied and pasted yours... I hope that's okay. :) I know this looks long, but please take the time to read it because it is truly beautiful!!

I made her. She's different, shes unique.
With love I formed her in her mothers womb.
I fashioned her with great joy.
I remember with great pleasure the days
I created her.
To me, shes beautiful...I love her.
I love to hear her laugh, and the silly things
she says and does. She is herself and no one else...
this is how I made her.

I made her pretty but not beautiful,
because I knew her heart and knew she would be vain.
I wanted her to search out her heart and learn that
it would be me in her that would be beautiful;
and it would be me in her that would draw friends to her.

I made her in such a way that she would need me.
I made her a little more lonesome than she would like to be,
only because i want her to turn to me in her loneliness.
I made her a little more dependent than she would like to be,
only because I want her to lean  and depend on me.

I know her heart. I know, if I had not made her like this
she would go her own chosen way, and forget about me...
her creator.
I haven given her many good and happy things, because
I love her.
I have seen her broken heart, and the tears she has
cried all alone. I have been with her and have a broken heart too.

many times, she has stumbled and fallen alone,
only because she would not take my hand.So many lessons
she has learned the hard way, because she would not
listen to my voice. So many times I have sat back,
and sadly watched her go merry way alone, only to
watch her return to my arms, sad and broken.
And now she is mine again. I made her, and then,
I brought her. I paid a high price for her,
because I love her.
I have had to reshape and remold her,
to renew her to what I had planned for her to be.
It has not been easy for her...or for me.
I want her to be conformed to my image.
This high goal I have set for her, because...
I love her.

... And now for the photos! (These go from two weeks ago till yesterday.)

some... uh... uhmmm, well, they're cookies...? I decided that we need to post about all of our failures, or, we'll call them valuable mishaps, as well as our successes. I say "valuable mishap" because I generally learn from these mistakes. When I pulled these out of the oven, my mom and I pondered what on earth could have happened and I tried to think of the lesson I learned... and came up with this: always listen to your little sister in the kitchen. :)

Catching up

Hello, beautiful ladies! Okay, I know that I haven't posted in a few days and I'm sorry about that! This post won't be anything too interesting, anyway, but I thought I'd pop in to let y'all know that I haven't dropped off the face of the earth. :) My past few weeks have been very, very stressful. It feels like every day something new happens... and it is such a huge struggle. I know you're probably thinking 'and are you going to tell us about this struggle??' Well, I can't really say everything at the moment, just be praying. I'm trying to trust God, because I know He is good and He has a plan, but it just feels as if His plan is only going to be fulfilled after I have struggled more than I would care for. But as my brother and I were talking in the car, as we drove extra laps through my neighborhood, discussing things as we usually do when we get home and have more to talk about, he said that although we are wanting a personal victory, that's not what we're going to remember or learn from. You don't learn that much from success stories or easy days. It's through the struggles that we grow. And so that's what I'm going to keep in my mind when I begin to hurt.

"...When my world is shaking, heaven stands.
When my heart is breaking, I never leave Your hands..."
-JJ Heller

Thanks for tuning in!

Love,
Lindsey
