Oh, Hello Again!

Hello, my dear friends. It's good to be posting again-- have you noticed that my gaps between posts just keep getting longer? It's just that time of year, I guess. I've got a very long research report that is eating my lunch, but once I get it done I'll be on the down-hill stretch to summer! Summer. Reallly? I just realized on sunday that summer is almost here. . . I don't know how I didn't realize that sooner! But then again, I didn't realize that a pickle was made from a cucumber until like last year. :)

Anyhoodle, [whoa. I just made that up.] In the past week, I've just been having adventures, working out, spending time with friends, babysitting, hanging out with my family and having amazing small groups at church. Oh, and on Friday I took my friend Rosie ice skating! {16 before 16 #6: check!} We also had a lovely back yard camp out, which you might have read about here. If you haven't, you can read it, but here are some pictures anyway.

I told her to think of Peeta... :))

Yes, the pancakes were as good as they look. The only problem is that the pan was also as hot as it looks, and I forgot I wasn't in the kitchen anymore... I resulted with a burn on my finger and I almost passed out, but I'm alive! And thankfully I think I must have burnt off the nerves or something because it doesn't hurt a bit. :)

Umm, so other than all this, I went into some enchanting woods with Adelle (aka Nina) and had the greatest time of my week. We explored undiscovered thickets and un-swum coursing rivers... or more like a creek. :) But we got muddy and covered in ticks and scars. So yes, it was a win. But I must say that the best part of it all was seeing Nina's little sister, who is usually more of a tom-boy than a girly-girl, try to push through the grasses and branches in the least tom-boyish fashion possible. Not to mention, she squealed about every 13 seconds. Win. Sweet T, I love you. :))

at the beginning I carried Nina on my back. :)
It seems that every word I say just gets less and less eloquent, so I think I'll stop now. Can you tell I need sleep?

Here Is Love That Came For Us.

During the week, I've been reading the story of Jesus' life from His entrance on the donkey to the empty tomb, in preparation for Easter. And do you know what hit me as I was thinking about His life? When we hear the story for the one hundredth time, our minds (and our hearts) automatically want to skip to the end of the story-- the part where He is alive, and has defeated sin and death. So often we, or at least I, don't want to think about the suffering He endured for me. The bloody welts of the whips. The crown of thorns dug into His head. The nails in His hands and feet, bleeding and ripping His flesh as He tried to be able to breathe, pushing Himself up, only bringing on more pain. It's appalling, the way He died. And then He faced God's wrath. . . for us. I don't know why I don't want to think about this very hard. I suppose maybe it's that I feel guilty. Because I don't deserve to live when I'm such a sinner, yet He was so perfect and died like that. But I always realize the beauty of it all. We're fallen. He's perfect. We don't deserve it, but He is love, and so He took the wrath for us.
So we should not ignore the fact that He went through that suffering. In fact, we should ponder it. And then return to Him, overflowing with thanks for the life he has given us.

Have a wonderful Easter, overflowing with thanks to our Savior!

Love and a hug,
Lindsey

oh, to sketch in the sun!

In my little hometown it has been pretty warm lately. I mean, not too scorching, just the hottest March ever recorded in Kansas. But the more time I spend in the sun, the more I love it. Yesterday I pulled out my sketch book and my little wooden man form (what's it called?) and sat atop a beach towel in the yard. Then I began to sketch. A character that has floated through my head for weeks. She's a farmer girl and she loves overalls and daisies. She's usually got dirt under her fingernails and converse on her feet. When she's not wearing converse, she's barefoot, sinking her feet into the mud and oozing it through her toes. Well, now she's sounding a lot like me, just much more storybook-like. Do you have any name suggestions?

you know how I hate taking self-portraits, but I did. And yes, I know it's blurry. :)

^ I got an Easter dress!

I hope you all have a blessed week! Enjoy the week, remember who's making it beautiful, and remember our amazing Savior!

Love, a hug, and cherry pie,
Lindsey

{p.s. so... I gave up sweets for the week and made myself accountable with my friend, Carolyn. So no, I didn't get to eat that cherry pie my daddy brought home :)}
